Everton eyes on one-to-watch World Cup gem Kojo Peprah Oppong as fee set

Everton have sent scouts to watch Nice defender Kojo Peprah Oppong, who could soon be about to make a big name for himself at the World Cup.

Oppong spent his formative years in Swedish football prior to joining Nice in 2025, where he has made 23 Ligue 1 appearances.

The Ghana international has also earned four senior caps for his country and is set to take part in this summer’s World Cup.

Everton are not alone in showing an interest in Oppong, with even more eyes now set to be on the defender in the coming months.

And ahead of the transfer window opening, a fresh update has now dropped on Everton’s interest in the 21-year-old.

Everton scouts sent to watch Kojo Peprah Oppong

Everton were credited with an interest in Oppong earlier this year, but nothing came of that in the winter window.

As per Tom Collomosse for the Daily Mail, however, it is thought Everton scouts have watched Oppong in action this season.

Kojo Peprah Oppong’s career stats

Oppong is listed as one of the 50 new talents many people have not heard of who may soon become far better known thanks to their World Cup exploits.

It is suggested that the Ghanian is now valued at around £10million, which is a relative bargain in the current market.

Mentored by former Brazil and Bayern Munich star Dante, Oppong appears to be on his way to the very top.

The only problem for Everton now, however, is that his valuation will only increase if he is a regular for Ghana in the United States, Canada and Mexico, where England will be among their group opponents.

Oppong links make perfect sense amid Jarrad Branthwaite latest

When everyone is fully fit, David Moyes has been blessed with central-defensive options at Everton this season.

The key word there, of course, being “when”. Branthwaite missed the first half of the season and has now been ruled out for the remainder of the campaign.

While the England centre-back’s layoff is not likely to last more than a month, it is a worry he is again struggling with a hamstring problem.

There is also uncertainty over Michael Keane’s future, so maybe it would make sense to bring in another centre-back this summer.

Oppong ticks plenty of boxes, namely being that he is young, relatively cheap on the face of it, and already boasts top-level experience in a top-five league.

Hopefully from Everton’s perspective, if the interest is indeed there, he does not have too many more suitors by the time the transfer window reopens.
