David Moyes clearly pulling the wool over Everton fans’ eyes with plain Thierno Barry lie
David Moyes is attempting to fool Everton fans with his latest comments on Thierno Barry.
The France Under-21 international striker has had a rough start to his career at the Hill Dickinson Stadium.
The former Villarreal man has notched six Premier League goals so far, but several missed chances and his off-field actions have left supporters wanting more.
The Scotsman is clearly pulling the wool over their eyes as he showed sympathy for the forward, when speaking ahead of the Manchester City game.
Everton face a crucial clash for their European hopes, but the manager’s plain lie on the 23-year-old may leave fans questioning him.

What did Moyes say about Barry?
Barry has not featured much for Everton lately, with just one start in the last six matches in the league.
However, Moyes claimed that he is improving as he goes along, which is a barefaced lie, it is as simple as that.

In quotes reported by the Liverpool Echo on 4 May, he said: “There are a lot of clubs who have paid a lot of money for centre forwards and you wouldn’t say that has been worth it.
“We took a chance on a young up and coming striker, we tried to get him in quickly and early to see how he was going.
“He has not done bad. I actually think he is improving as he is going along. The first season in the Premier League, it is not that easy.”
Why Moyes comments should anger Everton fans
Barry has underwhelmed this season, there is no sugarcoating that fact, as more was expected when he was signed in a £34million deal.
Moyes’ claim is just blatantly disrespectful to the fanbase, and he should know better.
Of course, he is trying to manage expectations and take the pressure off the young man, but to so blatantly try to hoodwink the supporters is not right.
| Barry’s stats at Everton | Premier League |
| Appearances | 34 |
| Goals | 6 |
| Goals per minute | 298 |
| Shots on target per game | 0.4 |
| Big chances missed | 10 |
| Goal conversion | 17% |
How can he say Barry is improving when he has featured for a total of 160 of a possible 540 league minutes since his last goal against Newcastle in February, it is just not true.
There is still time for the eight-cap youth international to shine on Merseyside, but he has not proved himself yet, and the Toffees need him to step up soon, if they are to achieve their ambitions to reach the higher echelons of the division.
How can Moyes demand Tyler Dibling steps up, but then be so forgiving when it comes to Barry, who is arguably playing in a more important position, it makes no sense.
The forward has not helped himself, but Moyes risks making the situation worse with his newest claims.
