Southampton teased with Tyler Dibling’s return after David Moyes’ latest comments at Everton

Southampton journalist Adam Blackmore has hinted that the Saints will look to sign Tyler Dibling back from Everton just 12 months after his exit.

The Toffees signed the winger from Southampton last summer for a whopping £40million fee, but the player has yet to win over David Moyes.

Everton made multiple young signings ahead of the season, and the majority of them have been unable to have an impact at Hill Dickinson, Dibling included.

The Blues are said to rate him highly and hope he improves, eventually cementing himself as a first-team starter.

However, Dibling was linked with a Southampton return in January, and that may have only been delayed until this summer.

Southampton seem to be still in mix for Tyler Dibling

Moyes has said that Dibling has work to do at Everton, hinting that failure to improve in training will cost him even more next season.

If the Toffees were to sanction the exit of the 20-year-old, they would most likely have no issues in finding interested clubs, due to his previous performances for Southampton in the Premier League.

Though indications suggest that Everton would only let Dibling leave on loan, as his market value is likely to have dropped over this season.

Southampton journalist Blackmore has added smoke to the fire for the Saints, hinting on X that a summer return is still on the cards this Monday, following Moyes’ comments.

It does seem like Everton should have just loaned the right-winger back to the Saints in the winter window, as he’s only played one minute of football since the start of February.

Could Dibling return to Southampton permanently?

Southampton are in with a shot of promotion to the Premier League, finishing fourth in the Championship and now staring down the barrel of an important Play-offs chance.

The Saints won beat Leeds United in the play-off final last time they were in the Championship, and Tonda Eckert’s men are on fire.

Southampton have lost just one time in their last 23 games, which was a 2-1 defeat to Manchester City in the FA Cup semi-final, at Wembley, though they led the contest in the second half.

They face Middlesbrough this Saturday in the first leg of the play-offs, and promotion could see them seek for Dibling’s return.

Maybe the Toffees would cut their losses and sell the youngster back to the Saints this summer, if the right money was on the table.
