Tim Iroegbunam crashes back down to earth with Everton stinker, questions to be asked
Tim Iroegbunam totally let himself down after looking to be on the up at Everton.
The Englishman has struggled at times since coming in from Aston Villa as part of a PSR-related swap deal in 2024.
There have been rare flashes of excellence from the 22-year-old, but they have been too far and few between for David Moyes’ liking.
That only continued away to Crystal Palace as the Blues once again threw away a lead to drop points in the Premier League.
Iroegbunam didn’t cover himself in glory at Selhurst Park, as serious questions need to be asked of his up-and-down form recently.

Tim Iroebgbunam was improved vs Manchester City
For the fourth game in a row, the Toffees have thrown away a lead, with the only missing factor against the Eagles being a late goal.
The Merseysiders could have easily had 12 points from their last four, but are instead looking at just two.
| Date | Results |
| 10/05/26 | Brentford 2-2 Everton |
| 04/05/26 | Everton 1-2 Liverpool |
| 25/04/26 | West Ham 2-1 Everton |
| 19/04/26 | Everton 3-3 Manchester City |
| 11/04/26 | Crystal Palace 2-2 Everton |
That has left their dreams of qualifying for Europe seriously dented, and it is the performances of certain individuals that aren’t helping, and Iroegbunam fits into that bracket.
The frustration is that last time out at Hill Dickinson Stadium, the Englishman was better and made a real difference against Man City.

He completed 12 passes while also chipping in with 11 defensive actions and nine duel wins, which is a positive against the champions.
Iroegbunam needed to kick on from the City draw, but certainly didn’t manage to do that against Crystal Palace over the weekend.
Everton needed better from Iroegnunam vs Crystal Palace
After taking the lead twice through James Tarkowski and Beto at Selhurst Park, it was a blow not to secure all three points.
There needed to be more defensive stability on show, and ultimately, that wasn’t the case as Ismaila Sarr and Jean-Philippe Mateta scored to snatch a point.
Iroegbunam was Everton’s most defensive midfield option in the absence of Idrissa Gueye, and he failed to fill in for the Senegal international effectively.

The ex-Aston Villa man featured across 90 minutes and misplaced seven passes, while being dispossessed once and giving away one foul.
Losing five duels also doesn’t help matters, as he came back down to earth with a bang after his showing against Man City last time out.
