Everton told unearthing Seamus Coleman replacement will be difficult as transfer search starts
Everton are aware that finding Seamus Coleman’s replacement at right-back may be the most difficult challenge of the summer.
The Toffees will be without the right-back for the first time in more than 17 years this summer when he will depart Hill Dickinson for a new challenge.
It’s been suggested that the Republic of Ireland international will continue his playing career for a little while longer, but it was expected that he would retire with the Blues.
The long-serving club captain got a controversial send-off at Hill Dickinson after the full-time whistle went for Everton’s 3-1 defeat to Sunderland, with fans showing their appreciation.
Everton will need to replace Coleman in the transfer market this summer, with the search now underway for a successor.

Finding Seamus Coleman successor will be hard
Coleman’s send-off has left some unhappy, with many Everton fans leaving the ground as soon as the full-time whistle went, but for understandbale reasons.
David Moyes‘ side all but blew their chances of attaining a European spot with the loss to Sunderland, as the head coach’s future is also uncertain.

While writing for The Athletic, Everton journalist Patrick Boyland suggested that finding a replacement for Coleman would be hard, possibly even as difficult as finding the right balance for the team in this summer’s transfer market.
Boyland wrote: “Finding solutions there, though, may prove more challenging even than unearthing Coleman’s successor at right-back.”

Everton officials will have known that they will need to find a new right-back regardless of Coleman’s departure, but they may now need a back-up option to arrive at the same time.
Jake O’Brien has been consistently played out on the right, much to the fury of the Toffees fans.
Who are Everton’s right-back targets?
Everton have their eyes on Femi Seriki of Sheffield United, and tried to sign Bologna right-back Emil Holm in Janaury.
The latter joined Juventus on loan, but reports suggest the Italian giants will not be triggering his buy option this summer, which could leave the door open for Everton.
Latest links have suggested that Everton could look to sign Lutsharel Geertruida, who is currently on loan with Sunderland, but the Black Cats are strangely looking to snub the chance to sign the Dutchman permanently from RB Leipzig.
It’s been suggested that £20million could be enough to sign Geertruida, who could be the best option to replace Coleman in the long run.
However, the reports won’t stop there, as it’s expected to be a thorough process in bringing the next possible club captain to the Blues.
