Everton to wrap up early deals after ‘horror’ David Moyes reaction
Everton are reportedly eager to learn from last summer and get transfer wrapped up early in the summer window.
The Toffees have already been linked with numerous names ahead of the window officially opening for business in a little under two weeks’ time.
Hayden Hackney has been a name strongly touted, while Jack Grealish is a player Everton would love to sign permanently.
David Moyes had to wait for much of Everton’s business to be concluded late in the window ahead of last summer.
But it appears The Friedkin Group have learned lessons from Everton’s previous transfer approach.

The Friedkin Group to learn from last summer
Everton made eight first-team signings last summer, the majority of which came in the latter stages of the window.
Charly Alcaraz’s loan move was made permanent early on, but that was the only confirmed incoming deal before July.
| Player | Date | Deal |
| Charly Alcaraz | 1 June | Loan made permanent |
| Thierno Barry | 9 July | Permanent |
| Mark Travers | 15 July | Permanent |
| Adam Aznou | 29 July | Permanent |
That is when Thierno Barry, Adam Aznou and Mark Travers signed. Not until August did Grealish sign on loan, which is also when Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall and Tyler Dibling arrived.
As per the Liverpool Echo, Moyes “reflects on the lack of players he had for the Premier League Summer Series with horror”.
However, it is reported that the Toffees are eager to put that right this time around with some early deals being concluded.
It is hoped that the new faces then have plenty of time to bed in over pre-season, rather than Moyes being left with a squad clearly not ready come the start of the season.
What is latest on Hayden Hackney to Everton?
The proof will very much be in the pudding when it comes to seeing if lessons have indeed been learned.
It seems as though Hackney is a top target for Moyes and the Toffees are well positioned to sign the Middlesbrough gem.

Indeed, Everton are ahead of Tottenham in the race for Hackney and there are murmurings a deal may not be far off.
If an agreement can be struck on that one before long, it really will be a signal of intent from Everton.
And it will mean Moyes will certainly not react with “horror” on this season’s pre-season tour.
