Everton have a clear path forward after The Friedkin Group put them up for sale.

The American owners are ready for the right individual or group to take a controlling stake at the Toffees.

Having bought the Blues from Farhad Moshiri in December 2024, Dan Friedkin and Co. no longer seem to be interested in it.

TFG may have realised they've bitten off more than they can chew at Hill Dickinson Stadium.

Given how the Americans have acted in recent months, news of a potential sale in L3 hasn't surprised many fans.

What the next owners now need to ensure is that they build on the platform that has been set at the Merseyside outfit.

Alan Stubbs not surprised by Everton inevitable

Reports in early September suggested TFG were looking for investment at Everton for a minority stake.

It has now emerged that the Friedkins are open to handing the day-to-day operation of the club to someone else.

Former Everton defender Alan Stubbs predicted something like this to happen after the American ownership's initial search for investors.

The Englishman doesn't mind seeing the back of TFG at Hill Dickinson Stadium and believes the next owners will only need to invest in the squad, with the rest of the infrastructure in place for success.

Speaking on talkSPORT on 9 October, Stubbs said, "This is no surprise today. I think we all knew this was coming. As soon as you put out they would welcome investment, you know the club is for sale.

"For me, I'm glad it's now. Everyone is clear that these aren't the owners to take Everton forward. They've come in, stabilised the ship, cleared all the debt.

"And now we have a great infrastructure for someone to come in and just invest in the squad because there's nothing really else to invest in. The stadium is there. The training ground is there. It's now what's on the pitch."

How Hill Dickinson Stadium fans have been lied to

For the last few years, Everton supporters have been anticipating significant investment from TFG in the squad.

Angus Kinnear shared the Toffees' ambition to bring in the best players during the summer transfer window, but we all know how that ended.

The American owners have been reluctant to spend the money needed to take the Blues up a level.

The Friedkins have made the last two summers out to be important and then failed to deliver on the signings.

With their decision to sell, it's clear they never really intended to build a competitive team for David Moyes, who will be left wondering what the latest decision means for the club's prospects in January.
