'Big American' tipped to complete Everton takeover after what's happened at Liverpool
Everton are back up for sale as The Friedkin Group leave the door open for a majority stake.
Signs have been brewing at the Toffees of the American ownership's lack of commitment recently, and those concerns seem to have been well founded.
David Moyes arguably hasn't had the necessary backing over the last few transfer windows to push the Blues forward.
TFG initially considered a minority sale at Hill Dickinson Stadium, but are now willing to cede control of the club.
The Americans stabilised the Merseyside outfit after taking over from Farhad Moshiri in December 2024.
It looks like TFG's interests lie elsewhere, as they're already thinking about a sale.
What could be next for Everton after TFG sale decision
David Ornstein revealed in The Athletic that TFG would be convinced to sell control at Everton if they feel the new owner is right to take them to the next level.
Alan Brazil and Ray Parlour instantly reacted to the breaking news, with another American group expected to fancy the Toffees as an asset.
Investment in the Premier League from the United States has increased in recent years, with Fenway Sports Group one example at Liverpool.
Given the size of the Blues' fanbase and the new Hill Dickinson Stadium, there isn't expected to be a shortage of people to buy TFG out.
Speaking on talkSPORT on 9 October, Parlour said, "I think it's a good club. I think there will be a lot of people interested in it."
Brazil added, "Something has happened. So Dan Friedkin hasn't attended a game since completing a takeover back in December 2024. Strange, isn't it?
"Look at what Americans have done at Liverpool. You think some big American will go, 'We will have a bit of it.' As you say, the stadium is there."
Why Friedkin Group are doing fans no favours at Hill Dickinson Stadium
Everton fans were already starting to lose faith in TFG after the disastrous end to the transfer window.
Their lack of investment in the summer may now make sense, as they've probably been thinking about a sale for some time.
The Merseyside outfit's supporters believed they had finally found the right owners in TFG, but the club is now back in an uncertain situation.
There's a desperate need to reinforce the squad in January, but if someone doesn't invest in the Toffees, the American owners may be unlikely to spend significant funds.
It also throws a spanner in the works for what the future holds for Moyes, whose contract expires at the end of the season.
