Dele Alli makes his contract case to Everton with footage he posted

Dele Alli is working extremely hard to prove his fitness and earn a new contract with Everton.

It has been a difficult period for the 37-cap England midfielder, who opened up his mental health struggles and abuse he suffered as a childhood in an emotional July 2023 interview.

He has not played professionally since his last appearance during a loan spell at Besiktas in February 2023 and has been out of contract at Goodison Park since the summer.

However, the former Tottenham man, 28, has been training and rehabilitating with Everton in a bid to earn a new contract with the club.

Alan Myers provided an update on Alli early in November, saying that he was doing well and hoping to get minutes with the Under-21s.

However, late last month Daily Mail did report he had suffered an injury setback, with Alli's future still up in the air somewhat.

But a post on his official Instagram account on Tuesday (10 December) showed Alli making his case. He put up pictures of himself working hard in the gym.

It was one piece of footage that really caught the eye, though. Alli's video showed him bending a lovely effort into the top corner in a clip reminiscent of his best days at Tottenham.

Dele Alli is yet to play a professional game for Everton under Sean Dyche.

Right now, it feels hard to make a definitive judgement on whether Alli will get a new deal. He has to prove he can stay fit and that he can cope with the physical demands of the Premier League.

Fair play, though, the video he posted certainly made his case to Everton and boss Sean Dyche. Let's hope there will be plenty more to come and that he can get his career back on track.
