Everton could fetch £900m as Friedkin Group eye sale - Exclusive
Everton could be sold for £900million if the Friedkin Group go through with their plans.
The Americans bought a 99.5 per cent stake in the Blues from Farhad Moshiri for a figure over £400m.
They have now revealed they now have plans for a full sale, rather than the small investment that had been reported on for the last few months.
That is if the right owner can be found to take the Toffees forward into a new era.
Staff on Merseyside are said to have been blindsided by the news that emerged on Friday.
Now, the focus will shift to who will buy the Hill Dickinson Stadium side and the amount of money involved.
Why could Everton fetch such a huge valuation?
Football finance expert Kieran Maguire believes the Blues could fetch between £800-900m in a sale on the current market.
He revealed that it is a very different one to when the Texas-based firm purchased the Blues, and could be compared to Crystal Palace's asking price.
Speaking exclusively to Goodison News, he said: "With selling to a different market than the one inherited from Moshiri, and with Palace on the market for £600m, then I’d be looking for £800-900m for Everton as they have so much potential."
New owners will surely see that potential, and hopefully be willing to put their money where their mouth is.
Why do Everton have such big potential?
The Toffees have so much potential because of the new stadium and the opportunities that come with that.
The region around the ground is set to go through a huge upgrade with the Liverpool Waters project, and a new owner could capitalise on that.
There is also the potential for major revenue shifts if David Moyes' side can reach European football.
They were just four points off a UEFA Conference League spot last season when all was said and done, and they have a better squad at their disposal, albeit just one striker.
The playing squad is full of promising young talent like Harrison Armstrong, Jarrad Branthwaite and Hayden Hackney, as well as players who are at the top of their game like Jack Grealish and James Garner.
Therefore, it represents a good opportunity for someone to come in and take the People's club to the next level.
