Everton suspend £30m agreement with USM for Bramley-Moore Dock naming rights
Everton have reportedly suspended their £30m agreement with USM for Bramley-Moore Dock's naming rights.
According to The Liverpool Echo, USM signed an agreement in 2020 that gave them first refusal over the naming rights of the new stadium.
However, the club are looking to immediately remove USM, MegaFon and Yota branding from Goodison after suspending all commercial ties with all three companies amid the Russia-Ukraine crisis.
Good move
Some things are more important than money and it was paramount to suspend ties with these companies.
That led to an agreement being suspended which is certainly going to cost the club money in the short term.
However, they can always get into naming rights with companies whose political integrities are not questioned.
Everton are a historic club and getting sponsors for the new stadium should not be a challenge at all.
Hopefully, we get some sort of clarity over these things in the coming weeks and it could even mean the club going to different companies for funding.
Farhad Moshiri is a smart businessman and will know how to get the club out of this minor obstacle.
What the future holds is anyone's guess but thus far, Everton have been on the right side of things and that is good to see.
