James Tarkowski reveals how Everton players feel about The Friedkin Group takeover plans
James Tarkowski is not worrying about a potential Everton sale.
The Friedkin Group announced that they would consider a full sale of their 99.5 per cent stake in the Blues on 9 October.
The American business group had been looking for a strategic investment to help them take the Blues further.
However, they are now looking for a new permanent owner, with an £800-900million valuation on Everton.
They have appointed Moelis & Company to handle the process, with a timeframe not in place at the moment for a takeover.
The captain has now revealed how the squad are feeling about that news after 22 months under their ownership.
How does Everton dressing room feel about Friedkin Group sale?
It would have been easy for the squad to have been distracted by the huge update going into the 2-2 draw with Hull City.
However, Tarkowski confirmed that is not the case and the dressing room has not been affected by the fact that the owners considering a sale.
In quotes reported by the Liverpool Echo, he said: “There’s a lot of questions about it, but nothing changes.
"You walk into work and it’s exactly the same the next day.
“Even when the takeover happened a couple of years ago, nothing really changed, obviously things way above us, things might look different, but for us it’s normal.”
Tarkowski feels also like the Blues are an attracting proposition, saying: “I would think so, I think Everton are one of the biggest clubs in the country.
“We’ve got an exceptional stadium, a manager who is one of the most experienced managers in the game and quality side with a lot of young and experienced players too."
Why Tarkowski's influence will be key amid Everton takeover
The 33-year-old will be key in maintaining the status quo once any takeover is completed.
David Moyes praised the defender in September, saying he's great in everything he does, making him the perfect leader.
That leadership will be vital in making sure that the squad is all on the same page when the new ownership comes in.
Performance levels can't be allowed to drop if the Toffees are going to maintain their ambitions to reach European football.
It would be easy for that to happen with all the speculation and rumour that will come in the next few months.
Tarkowski has to ensure that it does not happen, and his teammates continue to perform on the pitch, rather than looking and worrying at what is happening off it.
If he can't and players start to think about what their future at the club will be once everything changes, then it could hamper Moyes' side.
There has been no sign of that happening just yet, but as the sale process goes on and new buyers are closer, excitement and concern may build up among the team.
