'TFG financial news feels like a property flip at Everton' - BBC journalist
The Friedkin Group are working to potentially sell a significant share in Everton.
The Americans have only been in charge on Merseyside since late 2024 when they took over from Farhad Moshiri.
They paid around £330million for the Toffees, which included a payment to clear debt from the previous regime.
There was hope that this would represent a true period of change alongside the move to Hill Dickinson Stadium.
Things haven't quite worked out that way and frustration has begun to pile up against the owners.
The Friedkins have now set their sights on new investment, but it doesn't appear to be a great look.
What is the true motivation for new investors at Everton?
The Blues feel like a massive mess right now.
That was summed up by the failure to sign Folarin Balogun, after they had already waved goodbye to Beto.
It seems that the Friedkins are happy to kick the Merseyside outfit while they are down.
They are seeking new investment after less than two years in L3, but it seems that they could actually be looking to move on.
BBC journalist Giulia Bould reported via X on Thursday that TFG could actually be looking to sell Everton for a quick profit.
She said: "From my opinion this feels like a property flip by the owners. I'll have more across BBC today. I do feel for those inside the club today."
That seems as if they have come in, made the Toffees stable and are now looking to make a quick profit on their investment.
How much could The Friedkin Group demand for Everton shares?
This development is highly unlikely to help change the atmosphere surrounding the L3 outfit right now.
The only plus is that fans have largely grown inpatient with the owners due to their lack of killer instinct and apparent feeling to put Roma first.
There will now be questions of how much they could look to make if they are to sell up right now.
Given that they paid over £330m in 2024, they are likely to want a considerable fee well in excess of that to sell less than two years later.
It is unclear how much they could ask for, but with the club seemingly in a financially stable and a brand new stadium, it could come at a major cost to any interested party.
