Why Elon Musk has been personally called on to complete Everton takeover
Elon Musk has been urged by Michael Ball to become the next owner of Everton - for one particular reason.
It was confirmed on Friday that The Friedkin Group are willing to sell a controlling stake in the Toffees.
The US consortium believe they have stabilised things on Merseyside and are considering their next steps.
They are remaining firm in who they could potentially sell to as any potential buyer must "be the right stewards to take the club forward".
There is yet to be any news of bids or interest, but that could soon change in the coming weeks and months.
The news of TFG's departure has now seen the Tesla trillionaire Musk put forward as an option.
Elon Musk has personal reason to take over Everton
There will now be plenty of discussion over who could come in and make their presence felt in L3.
The dream for many fans will always be to get the most wealthy owners through the door.
It is no surprise that Musk's name has been put forward as the richest person in the world.
His net worth has reportedly ticked over the £1trillion mark, becoming the only person on earth to ever achieve that feat.
There is no direct link between the largest shareholder in Tesla and Everton, but he does have an existing link to Liverpool.
That is his ongoing feud with Jeff Bezos, who recently played a part in a consortium that purchased 40 per cent of the Anfield club in August.
It is for that reason former Toffees man Ball has personally urged Musk to take control of the Toffees.
Ball, perhaps with his tongue slightly in his cheek, said via X on Friday afternoon: "Come on Elon Musk, get involved and take on your rival again, Jeff Bezos."
That certainly raises a talking point on Merseyside, but raises questions of the feud between the pair and what that could mean for Everton and Liverpool.
Why Merseyside derby could be intensified by Musk and Bezos grudge
There dislike between the two has been going on for well over 20 years.
It stretches back to arguments over their respective aerospace manufacturer businesses.
Musk owns SpaceX, while his counterpart owns Blue Origin.
They both allegedly argued at a dinner in 2004, with the feud beginning there.
The space agencies have played a role, but there has also been an ongoing battle underneath the surface.
Both have both contended for the richest person in the world title, with Musk currently winning.
This long-standing quarrel could soon be played out in the stands of the Merseyside derby.
Ball is obviously not being entirely serious with his social media post, you would assume, but it is certainly a talking point as the Friedkins look to move on.
