The Friedkin Group are on very thin ice with Everton fans right now.

Unfortunately for the Americans, it only seems to be getting worse for them at Hill Dickinson Stadium.

It was easy to start on a positive foot following their takeover from Farhad Moshiri, with the restructuring of debt a perfect start.

They finally got Everton into a stable position again, with a new stadium to join that new era, too.

But, things on the pitch haven't been great.

David Moyes has been blamed somewhat by the owners for missing out on European football, but he would argue his resources are extremely limited.

One thing for sure, it's all coming to a head very soon.

Latest debacle from the Friedkins revealed

Add another shocking end to a transfer window this summer, and credit is extremely low.

With limited spend again, Angus Kinnear took a big share of the blame to help deflect some away from the Friedkins.

The same couldn't be said for AS Roma, though, who splashed the cash ahead of the Champions League under the Americans.

One question that refuses to go away, is who are the priority for the Friedkin Group - is it Everton or Roma?

They've always maintained that they have a "structural solution" to UEFA's multi-club ownership rules, but Paul Joyce has now shared that not to be the case.

The Times journalist states on X that it's another test of it's commitment to Everton, should they reach Europe too - which has been made very clear is the goal again.

It's even questioned whether it will force them to sell up in the very near future.

First clue for Everton takeover already lands

So, perhaps it's no surprise that hints have been made about possible outside investment coming in.

Less than two years after their takeover, it's a shock to everyone, and maybe a reminder than it's not gone as they'd hoped.

But, if it's down to UEFA rules and how they plan to sort that in the future, they've clearly lied about their possible solution.

Given the poor transfer window, Everton aren't exactly favourites for European football in the Premier League anyway.

It would take something special from the likes of Jack Grealish and Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall for it to happen.

But, right now, all it does is raise further questions about the Friedkins commitment to the cause at Everton.
