Everton have released their official 2026-27 squad photo.

With the summer transfer window now shut, David Moyes now knows who will be heading into the first half of the season with him.

And, with the team still unbeaten in all competitions at the international break, this Everton group looks to be a very capable one indeed.

Sitting seventh in the Premier League, Toffees supporters will be again dreaming of European football at Hill Dickinson Stadium next term.

If they are going to achieve that, then Moyes will no doubt need to dip into his squad depth over the course of the season.

Some players are deeper down the depth chart than others, as Evertonians will be noticing when scanning across this team photo.

Which minuteless Everton player might Toffees fans have trouble identifying?

Everton officially have 19 players registered on their Premier League squad list this season.

Teams can have a maximum of 25 players registered, leaving Moyes with the smallest team in the top flight for 2026-27.

Even so, there is still place for one player in particular to get lost, and that's Christian Norgaard.

The Danish international arrived from Arsenal this summer, but is yet to play a single minute for the Toffees due to a groin injury.

So, Evertonians can be forgiven for having to perform a double take, or perhaps ask for help, to identify the midfielder in the team photo.

If you cast your eyes to the trio of goalkeepers, Norgaard is standing to the left of Tom King, directly above assistant manager Leighton Baines.

So, just how big of a problem have injuries been for Norgaard recently, and what does it say for his chances of carving out a key Everton role?

Now 32, Norgaard is perhaps heading into the twilight years of his career.

Indeed, he only turned out seven times in the Premier League for Arsenal last season, and looks to be a backup player for Everton this term.

As detailed via Transfermarkt, however, it may not necessarily be through his ability as to why Norgaard will struggle to win an important Toffees role.

That's because he's not been able to stay completely healthy for an entire season since his 2021-22 campaign with Brentford.

He missed seven games across club and country last season, three in 2024-25, nine in 2023-24 and 12 in 2022-23.

It's the niggling nature of his injuries that often see him unable to go on an extended run of games and fitness, and in Everton's midfield room, that's a big problem.

James Garner, Hayden Hackney, Harrison Armstrong and Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall are all quality options, and Norgaard will struggle to oust any if he can't stay fit.
