Everton missed Jack Grealish for the second part of the season as he was forced to undergo surgery on a foot injury.

The Toffees loanee emerged as a talisman under David Moyes and looked primed to take Everton back into European football

Unfortunately, that was not to be the case, and the Blues failed to capitalise on the chance in front of them.

The future of Jack Grealish is still up in the air, but Everton do hope they can bring him back to Hill Dickinson Stadium.

As things stand, the Englishman is still recovering from his injury.

However, a new update has emerged, with Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall among those quickest to react.

The loanee is still working at Finch Farm to return to his best ahead of next season.

Grealish is back to training on grass, with the winger confirming the news himself via a series of images and a message on his Instagram.

He stated: "Ahhh man can’t even explain how good this felt! 5 months ago since I last put my boots on.. Back on the grass today! Best feeling ever man. Time to get ready!!"

Everton teammate Dewsbury-Hall is delighted with the news, commenting underneath: "Beautiful scenes."

Other Toffees reactions include from back-up goalkeeper Tom King replying with: "It’s good really good."

Meanwhile, both Jordan Pickford and Tim Iroegbunam have liked the post.

What is the latest on Grealish returning to Everton?

Everton will want to avoid a saga over Grealish, but with Man City still yet to confirm the expected arrival of Enzo Maresca, a lot is still up in the air.

The Toffees are still refusing to pay the £50million option to buy clause and are looking to agree on a more acceptable deal.

With Grealish having one year left on his Etihad contract, the Sky Blues are unlikely to sanction another loan.

This is their final chance to recoup any of the £100m fee they paid to sign him from Aston Villa.

So, if Everton want to bring the winger back to L3, it would have to be on permanent terms this time around.

However, they could also run into the roadblock where Maresca wants to keep the Englishman at Man City for next season.

This would certainly be an unforeseen obstacle in their push to sign Grealish.

A lot is still unclear but hopefully that should start to change over the coming weeks ahead of pre-season.
