Adam Aznou slammed by Malaga media as Everton loanee features in heavy defeat
Adam Aznou's loan spell away from Everton has not been working out for all parties so far.
The Moroccan defender is playing his football this season for La Liga side Malaga, with the 20-year-old yet to start a game.
His time was marred by an early setback, with the Everton loanee picking up an injury shortly after joining.
However, since returning to availability, his time at the Spanish club has been far from smooth.
In Malaga's latest fixture, Aznou was handed a whole half to try to push for a starting place in the team.
But he utterly failed to make an impact, with local media in Southern Spain slamming his performance.
Why local media criticised Adam Aznou's latest showing for Malaga
Malaga's place in the Spanish top flight is teetering on the edge, with the White-and-Sky-Blues sitting at the bottom of the table.
Aznou's loan side are the only outfit in La Liga yet to win a game, with relegation a clear possibility.
Over the weekend, they had the chance to try and turn their fortunes around against Real Sociedad, but they ultimately fell to a 5-2 defeat.
Although Aznou did not start the game, he was brought on for the second half to try and make a difference.
That was something he failed to do, with Diario Sur handing him a three out of 10, and putting bluntly: "He went out to solve a problem, but he didn't. Bad."
Elsewhere, Malaga Hoy, which only deals with positive or negative as its rating system, put him in the latter.
They state: "All bark and no bite. He's got the nerve and the desire, but then he's lacking in many areas, especially defensively."
Radio Malaga was perhaps the kindest in their assessment, handing him a five out of 10, but yet those same defensive worries still persisted.
With them reporting: "He was better than Salinas, which isn't saying much, but he was still a little lacking.
"He had a good shooting opportunity and contributed a lot with the ball alongside Pablo Martínez, but he was soft on defence."
Overall, the African defender may face a hard road ahead to secure a starting spot, with that likely to further jeopardise his chances at Everton.
Everton only have one answer on Aznou loan, as long as it is possible
There are no reports on whether Aznou's loan deal includes a recall option for Everton, but as things stand, that is surely the only decision to make if possible.
The 20-year-old is struggling to push into the Malaga side, and it seems the level is proving too high for him at this moment in time.
Recalling him would not be to put him back into the first-team fold at Hill Dickinson, but rather to find him a better loan.
His development is key to his future in L3, and Malaga are not providing him with the best environment.
