David Moyes' starting XI vs Crystal Palace could now include two Everton signings

Everton are already shaping up ahead of their season opener against Crystal Palace.

The Toffees finished last campaign in the most frustrating fashion having failed to win in their last seven games.

That saw the dream of a European tour drift away as Brighton and Sunderland sealed a top eight finish.

Things need to improve at Hill Dickinson Stadium next time around to compensate for the annoyance of last season's end.

The Blues are already making strides to change at this early stage of the summer window.

Everton set for familiar feel in defence

As it stands there has been a lack of movement for potential new defensive options in L3.

Reinforcements could prove to be in the pipeline, but no signing has been made at this stage.

It is very likely that Jordan Pickford will line up for the Toffees and will be joined by James Tarkowski and Vitalii Mykolenko.

The latter penned new terms earlier in the summer, so could keep his place as a regular.

Jarrad Branthwaite could be the other centre-back, depending on whether he can return to full fitness in time.

If not, Michael Keane or Jake O'Brien could start, although the Irishman is more likely to feature as a right-back again if another doesn't come in.

There is more likely to be a fresh feel in midfield after the business that has already been done.

Hayden Hackney and £17m man could start vs Crystal Palace

The newest addition on Merseyside has seen Hayden Hackney after a stellar campaign at Middlesbrough.

His £16million switch has left the Blues faithful excited and he could be thrown straight in from the start against Palace.

He could join James Garner at the base of midfield as the two could feature together to great effect, especially in the absence of Idrissa Gueye after his contract expired.

They could both be joined by new permanent signing Merlin Rohl after Everton were forced to pay around £17m to complete a move to L3 after they avoided relegation from the Premier League.

That would represent two new signings in midfield, even if the latter spent last campaign on Merseyside.

Will Everton keep hold of Iliman Ndiaye?

The biggest question at Hill Dickinson Stadium this summer surrounds the future of Iliman Ndiaye.

He has been strongly linked with a move away from the Blues, but is yet to agree a departure at this stage.

If he does stuck around, he will likely be in from the start against Palace to potentially link up with Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall in an attacking area.

With no deal for Jack Grealish announced, it is unclear whether he will feature again for the Toffees.

That uncertainty also follows Thierno Barry but in the other direction as he has been linked with an RB Leipzig switch.

Beto could be in from the start to begin the campaign against the Eagles after becoming the go-to man for the majority of last season under Moyes.

There are likely to be further changes as the summer goes on, but as it stands, it looks likely to be a familiar side that begins the Premier League campaign.
