Everton attacker Demarai Gray has reacted controversially to Ishe Samuels-Smith leaving the club for a move to Chelsea.

The teenager took to Instagram to confirm that he had secured a move to Stamford Bridge on a permanent basis.

The London outfit parted ways with a fee believed to be in the region of £4million to secure the services of the 17-year-old, per the Athletic.

Gray responded, "Makes sense. Well done bro."

Strange

It's hard to understand why Gray would say that it's a move that makes sense as he's likelier to get game time at Everton than at Chelsea.

The London club have a habit of spending big on star players rather than introducing teams from the academy to the first team.

Samuels-Smith might just become one of many players added to their loan army and there are no guarantees that he will ever make it to the first team.

Everton

At Everton, given their financial crisis, he would be aware that signings were going to be few and far between so it's surprising he chose to move.

It could be the lure of moving to one of the richest clubs in the world but their project does not appear to be heading anywhere under the new ownership.

The Toffees will move on and pocket the multi-million fee but it's time that they bring in new players as well and not just focus on sales.
