Everton could find a perfect future replacement for Jordan Pickford in Sunderland star Anthony Patterson.

The England international has been a rare success story as a transfer at Goodison Park after joining from the Black Cats for £30million in 2017 [Sky Sports].

The 30-year-old has been a key asset for the national team and for the Toffees but has been linked with a move away in recent windows.

Chelsea were understood to be one of the sides interested in securing his services during the most recent window without a deal going through [Graeme Bailey, 1 May].

The Blues could return in the coming months which would see Sean Dyche's side without their number one keeper and key player.

Anthony Patterson could replace Jordan Pickford at Everton

After signing Pickford from Sunderland, the Toffees could return to the Stadium of Light with a bid for their goalkeeper.

If the Toffees can win the race for the Englishman, they could finally have a long-term replacement for their current star between the sticks.

As a Sunderland fan, their supporters resinate with their goalkeeper in a similar way to the Everton shot-stopper before he departed.

Patterson could use this as a blueprint for his career and complete a move to Goodison if the prospect of a deal came up.

It has to be said that the Black Cats' academy graduate may see an opportunity to earn promotion back to the Premier League with his boyhood club this campaign.

Given that Regis Le Bris' side are fighting at the top end of the Championship, any move from the Toffees could potentially be scuppered.

This is certainly a deal that looks promising for Everton, though, as they look towards a long-term future without Sean Dyche regular Pickford between the sticks.
