Bryan King believes the Premier League have created a "problem" for themselves amid talk of Luton Town and Brentford potentially suing Everton.

The ex-Goodison scout has revealed that he is not a fan of the current Profit and Sustainability rules in place, the same rules which have seen the Toffees twice deducted points this season.

Following reports that a third points deduction could be on the cards at Goodison Park, Yasin Patel, a sports lawyer at Church Court Chambers, has revealed that Brentford or Luton Town could have grounds for legal action if either team was to be relegated.

Patel told the i (10 April), "If Luton or Brentford were to get relegated and this case gets brought against Everton next season and they get points deducted, if I were their lawyer, I’d be suing the Premier League and Everton."

However King - speaking exclusively to Goodison News - is not so sure that is the best idea.

"I think the Premier League have created this problem themselves, I still can't get my head around these Profit and Sustainability rules and regulations," said the former scout.

"It is never going to be a level playing field, some Premier League owners are richer than others.

"However, I am not so sure about these lawsuits, I think Luton Town and Brentford would be better off moving on."

Everton have no time to relax at Goodison Park amid PSR drama

It appears that the drama of the 2023/24 Premier League season could drag on long beyond the final whistle goes around the grounds on 19 May.

While the Toffees have their own books to balance and PSR regulations to contend with, it appears that their fellow Premier League clubs could now also turn their attention toward Goodison Park.

However, considering the can of worms any potential lawsuit could open, Brentford and Luton Town might be better suited to avoid going down that route.

Things could get messy for both clubs and in truth, trying to earn promotion back to the Premier League via the dreaded Championship Play-Offs could be less stressful.

Nonetheless, it appears that Everton won't be able to sleep easy anytime soon, even if they do earn Premier League safety come May.
