Everton player power rankings: Thierno Barry enters list, teammate plummets after horror show
In the end a point apiece was just about the right outcome, with Everton recovering from a goal down to lead, only to then concede a second.
Thierno Barry wasted some glorious chances before taking the toughest of the lot that fell his way.
At the other end of the field, some dreadful defending from Ainsley Maitland-Niles gifted Hull both of their goals.
Jarrad Branthwaite was forced to play out of position due to Vitalii Mykolenko's injury layoff, with some wondering if James Garner would have been better utilised there.
Now that the dust has settled on an eventful match at MKM Stadium, Goodison News has updated its Everton player power rankings.
5 - Ainsley Maitland-Niles (down 3)
Maitland-Niles brilliantly set up Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall for Everton's equaliser.
But that is where the positives end. His defending for both goals, the second in particular, was comical.
Pat Nevin did not hold back as he hit out at the "terrible" defending, and in truth the wording used could have been stronger.
He drops three places from last week, but has still been in Everton's top-five performers overall this season.
4 - Thierno Barry (new entrant)
Barry showed both sides of his game on Humberside as he made it goals in back-to-back games and six in all competitions for the season.
The big takeaway was that he once again wasted multiple chances, including what can be best described as an absolute sitter.
However, he showed great resilience to not let that impact him as he brilliantly took his next chance to put Everton ahead.
When you also factor in his 10 aerial duels won - nobody can better that in the Premier League this term - it is hard to deny him a place in this list.
3 - Jarrad Branthwaite (same position)
Branthwaite did not look entirely comfortable filling in at left-back.
And yet, despite not being in his natural position, he still did not look near as out of place as Maitland-Niles on the opposite flank.
David Moyes knows just how important Branthwaite is to this side, not least because he can be used as a utility player as he was here.
2 - James Tarkowski (down one)
James Tarkowski will be disappointed to have conceded twice, having entered this game as part of the best defensive unit in the division.
The 33-year-old can blame teammates for that, including Jordan Pickford as he could have done more to keep out Hull's second goal.
Still, Tarkowski has been very good this season and you can expect him to be back to his best if partnered by Branthwaite again next week.
1 - Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall (up one)
Not only did Dewsbury-Hall find the net, he also assisted Barry's goal.
His header was the first he has scored in the Premier League, with this his 10th goal in the competition.
Dewsbury-Hall is enjoying a superb campaign and is now adding goal involvements to his game.
There has been nobody better in an Everton kit this season, with England recognition surely set to follow.
