Everton player ratings vs Tottenham: Tyrique George electric, 5/10 not up to scratch

Everton held Tottenham Hotspur to a 0-0 draw in a hard-fought performance away from home on Saturday.

David Moyes made one change to the side that drew 2-2 with Manchester United in the Premier League last time out, with Ainsley Maitland-Niles coming in for Merlin Rohl.

The Toffees confirmed ahead of kick-off that Rohl's absence is due to an injury, which may be the latest right-back worry.

The Blues survived early pressure from Roberto De Zerbi's men, and grew into the game, but were unable to grab the lead before the break.

Thierno Barry had some good chances in the second half, as did Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall, but the Toffees couldn't finish their chances.

Everton soaked up late pressure once more from Tottenham, but Moyes' defence stood strong and was very impressive throughout.

Tyrique George was on fire vs Tottenham

Tyrique George appears to be building on his good start at Everton since resigning earlier this summer.

The winger fired in his first goal for the Blues against Man United last time out, and came close again this time around.

But he also looked like Everton's most creative outlet, and was unlucky not to grab an assist for Barry in the second 45.

George completed two of five attempted dribbles, making 10 sprints in the game, before being replaced by Jack Grealish in the 65th minute.

He created one big chance for Barry, completing one of three attempted crosses.

George was Everton's most dangerous player, and deserved to be on a winning team.

Brennan Johnson blew his golden chance

Brennan Johnson had another poor game for Everton.

Although he grew into the game in the second half, he was not effective enough and should have won the Blues all three points.

The Wales international had the ball put on a plate for him when Dewsbury-Hall cut the ball back to his teammate, only for the former to blaze over.

The strike had an expected goal rate of 0.16, and did go down as a big chance missed.

Ironically, he got a warm reception from the Spurs fans when leaving the field.

They were probably thankful he did them another favour after missing a guilt-edged opportunity.
