Everton are not the club Blackburn Rovers striker Sammie Szmodics is holding talks with over a potential transfer, according to Alan Myers.

The Sky Sports news editor reported on 29 July that the 2023/24 Championship Golden Boot winner has been in training on Monday afternoon as talks continue over a move away from the club.

When asked if the Merseyside outfit were the team in talks, he responded: "No."

Everton must consider signing Sammie Szmodics this summer

The Toffees should seriously consider signing Szmodics due to his proven goal-scoring ability and versatility on the pitch.

As the top scorer in the Championship last season with 27 goals, the 28-year-old has demonstrated his capacity to find the back of the net consistently.

His ability to play across the front line and even as a number 10 would provide Sean Dyche with much-needed tactical flexibility.

With uncertainty surrounding Dominic Calvert-Lewin's future leaving only Beto as the recognised senior striker, it makes sense for them to pursue Szmodic's services.

Beto struggled to adapt to the Premier League and the Republic of Ireland international's experience of playing in England will come in handy.

Entering talks to sign Szmodics would also demonstrate Everton's ambition to strengthen the squad and compete in the Premier League and potentially aim for a top-half finish.
