Everton vs Crystal Palace injury latest: Four could miss out as David Moyes shares update
Everton and Crystal Palace could be missing a combined four players for their Premier League opener.
The Blues host the UEFA Europa Conference League winners in their first match of the 2026-27 campaign on Saturday.
David Moyes will be hoping that his side can start off on a positive foot, and send a message to the rest of the division
The aim will be a European berth, something which they missed out on last season by four points.
Beating a reigning European champion would certainly help convince those who do not believe in the Toffees.
However, both sides may be without key players for the game at the Hill Dickinson Stadium on 22 August.
Who is absent for Everton in Crystal Palace clash?
Everton will not have a full squad available to choose from, when they host the Eagles.
Tim Iroegbunam, James Garner and new signing Christian Norgaard were suspected injury doubts for the clash.
Moyes has now given an update on whether they will be available for the contest, and it was not good news on that front.
Speaking to the media on Friday in his press conference, he said: "We don't have Christian Norgaard fit yet, Jimmy Garner is obviously returning from a hernia operation, Tim Iroegbunam has an adductor strain, he won't make it tomorrow."
That means that he will have to choose from Harrison Armstrong, Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall, Hayden Hackney, Merlin Rohl and Carlos Alcaraz for the three midfield spots.
Everyone else is available for the Merseysiders, so Moyes will have several selection dilemmas to make.
Who is missing for Palace after injury update?
For the visitors, they have just one injury doubt, but it is goalkeeper Dean Henderson, the England back-up goalkeeper.
That would be a big loss, and Pierre Sage confirmed that it will be a game-time decision on whether he is involved or not.
Speaking in his pre-match press conference, he said: “He will train today with the keeper’s coach and we will take the decision tomorrow, but we hope he is able to play.
“A little twist of his ankle, but not too much.
“Everybody [else] could play and I have to make some choices. This is the job.”
If Henderson is out, Palace could call on either Walter Benitez or Remi Matthews to take his place between the sticks.
The Toffees may well hope the the first-choice goalkeeper is out, as it would give them a greater chance of victory.
Palace will still provide a tough test though, as they have quality throughout the pitch that can harm the hosts.
They have added a former Blue in Dwight McNeil, winger Zavier Gozo, experienced defender Takehiro Tomiyasu, and two right-backs in Oscar Mingueza and Anan Khalaili.
