Everton star Jordan Pickford was axed from the England side to face Spain on Saturday.

Tuchel said that the veteran has “has done nothing wrong”.

That will provide some solace for the Blues stopper, who may have thought he was about to lose his spot but has now found his ultimate fate.

Pickford was reliable for his country at the World Cup, and he has started the season in brilliant fashion, so it would have a shambles if his benching was a changing of the guard.

He has conceded three goals and kept three clean sheets in five Premier League matches so far this season.

Pickford has completed 62.9 per cent of his passes, suggesting that his distribution is not an issue either.

The swap will come eventually, given that the Toffees ace is advancing in age, but as of right now, he should still be first-choice as the data shows he is still in top form.
