Folarin Balogun to Everton 'scandal' hits Italy as early transfer update lands
Folarin Balogun is still feeling the negative effect of his failed summer move to Everton.
The American striker was moments away from a move to Hill Dickinson Stadium, with a deal sheet submitted on deadline day.
From turning up to the jet late and issues in his medical, things started to unravel throuhgout the day, though.
Everton had agreed a £40million fee with AS Monaco, but after negotiating to change terms following the medical, Balogun pulled out of the move.
It's left David Moyes with Thierno Barry as his only senior striker, with Beto allowed to leave for Fiorentina before this drama.
And as Balogun continues to struggle, his future could now be in Italy.
What's been said about Everton and Folarin Balogun?
Even after nearly two months has passed, this story continues to be brought up and the drama that surrounds it.
Tuttosport has now reported that Juventus are looking to take advantage of Everton's failure to sign Balogun.
Looking to get things in order, plans are being put in place for Juve to sign a new striker in January.
Balogun and Alexander Sorloth are their two options.
The Italian outlet have shared their take on Everton's failed move, describing the medical as a "scandal" and how things have come to a head since.
Balogun has now been left out of Monaco's Champions League squad and a January exit is still "highly likely."
Could Everton try for Balogun again?
Of course, it's possible.
But, for Moyes, the Friedkins and Angus Kinnear, surely they have felt a level of disrespect after the summer saga.
To not only turn up late, but make it all about yourself and walk away after small changes in negotiations, is a joke.
Balogun now is hardly playing in France, with only 46 Ligue 1 minutes under his belt so far, the latest against Toulouse on Saturday.
Spending £40m after his breakout World Cup with the USMNT was seen as good business, but if he continues to hardly play between now and January, it wouldn't be now.
Barry is undisputed right now and is leaving everything out there for Moyes and Everton, who need more characters like that.
Sadly, Balogun isn't that.
