Gary Neville and Roy Keane have shared their reaction to the Everton statement confirming Sean Dyche's sacking.

The 53-year-old departed Goodison after two years just hours before the FA Cup clash against Peterborough United in a bizarrely timed decision.

It appeared that there was no love lost between the ex-Burnley manager and the Toffees as the official statement released by the L4 club didn't thank the head coach.

This was questioned by Neville on The Overlap (16 January) as he said: "There's no thank you in there at all is there?"

Former Sunderland boss Roy Keane replied: "When you lose your job, you won't be worried about statements. We can argue for Dyche all day long but he might be sat there thinking about losing his job."

This didn't sit right with the ex-Manchester United defender who added: "It is strange not to say thank you. It's strange."

The Englishman did so much positive work in his spell at Merseyside which can't be forgotten.

In his spell at Goodison, the Englishman had to work against multiple points deductions from the Premier League but still managed to secure safety.

The Toffees avoided relegation to the Championship against the odds and were able to do so by some way in the end.

It appears that this achievement has been forgotten by the Toffees after coming under fire from supporters before eventually being sacked.

Although his tactical approach wasn't the most exciting on the eye, it was regularly effective and looked likely to achieve survival once again.

Regardless of what was thought of him in the days and weeks before being sacked, Dyche still deserved a thank you from the L4 club for his achievements.

The employment of David Moyes has been met with excitement but his style of play, which got the former Watford man sacked, isn't that much different.
