How English media reacted to Everton star Jarrad Branthwaite's cameo vs Czechia
Everton's Jarrad Branthwaite featured from the bench in England's 3-0 win over Czechia.
The Blues ace had only seen one minute of action so far in the international break against Spain.
However, Thomas Tuchel brought him and James Garner on in the 64th minute to join Jordan Pickford who was named in the starting line-up.
It was Branthwaite's third cap for the Three Lions and just his second under the German boss.
He has previously struggled to convince the former Chelsea manager that he deserves to be part of the squad.
The English media have reacted to the Hill Dickinson Stadium ace's showing and it was generally positive.
English media impressed by Everton star Jarrad Branthwaite
Branthwaite finally got a proper cameo rather than just garbage time minutes, and the media were happy with his showing.
SportBible gave him a seven out of 10 rating, saying: "Similar to his Everton team-mate [Garner], calm and collected on the ball.
"Had few chances to show his defensive prowess."
The Daily Express gave Branthwaite a six saying: "Slotted in nicely."
The Standard handed him a five, meanwhile, saying: "Slotted in at left centre-back once Guehi made way.
"Rated highly by Tuchel looking towards the future."
The Telegraph reacted to his whole break as a five, saying: “His action in this break was the minute plus stoppage time against Spain, then half-an-hour at Wembley against the Czechs.
“Others ahead of him in the pecking order when Ezri Konsa was injured.”
David Moyes will be happy to see his young defender get international recognition, but what do the stats say?
What did the stats reveal about Branthwaite's performance?
Branthwaite had 30 touches in the contest, despite his limited amount of minutes.
The Toffees man completed 97 per cent of his passes in the clash, per FotMob data, showing how comfortable he is on the ball.
He had one defensive contribution, making one clearances with a recovery to his name as well.
In terms of duels, he won two of two in the air, for a 100 per cent success rate, and failed with his only one on the ground.
The 24-year-old showed Tuchel that he is good enough to step up when called upon, and he should get more opportunities.
Whether that happens or not in the future, remains to be seen, but he has surely given the Three Lions boss something to think about.
He has to keep up his brilliant levels with the People's club then Tuchel will surely not be able to ignore him when the next international break comes around.
There is added motivation with the 2028 European Championships being held in the United Kingdom, and Branthwaite will have hoped to have cemented his place by then.
