Everton will be one of the Premier League clubs watching very closely at the drama unfolding at Manchester City.

City have finally been found guilty of 114 of the 115 charges brought against them.

After a huge number of financial rule breaches, punishments range from fines, all the way to expulsion from the division.

Everton obviously have previous with the Premier League, being deducted points across two periods for PSR troubles.

The Toffees were punished with eight points taken away, although before appeal, it would have been four more.

After Chelsea got away with a slap on the wrist and fines for their recent trouble, City won't be so lucky.

How will Everton play role in Man City punishment?

Everton were dealt with by the Premier League directly after their breaches, but this City case is far bigger and more serious.

With appeals to come and the Citizens still declaring their innocence, this is going to drag on for months, if not years.

Everton may be called upon when the time comes, though.

Rob Dorsett of Sky Sports has reported that any decision to expel City from the Premier League would go down to a vote by the clubs.

It's said that a 75 per cent majority would be needed for it to happen, or 15 of the 20 clubs supporting it.

Fines and points deductions are mentioned as other sanctions available to the independent commission first.

How have Everton been punished?

It didn't just stop with the points deductions for the Blues.

Sean Dyche and now David Moyes have taken them away from the trouble of relegation, but the Friedkins have been hit, too.

Everybody remembers Abdoulaye Doucoure scoring to keep Everton up on the final day, but the season was marred.

Leeds agreed a settlement with Everton after that season and the breaches, while the Toffees have been forced to pay Burnley £35m.

When a sporting advantage can be argued through illegal means and breaches, clubs can seek settlements.

That is what faces City now.

As for Everton, it's down to the likes of Thierno Barry, James Tarkowski and Jordan Pickford to keep their heads and focus on the task at hand this season.

That's getting the Toffees back into Europe.
