How Everton's Tyrique George earned the plaudits for England U21s with 'dangerous' display
Everton's Tyrique George has taken his strong club form into the international break.
While the winger was not selected for Thomas Tuchel's senior squad, he has been given the chance to shine for the England under-21s.
Lee Carsley's side has a strong contingent of Everton players, with the 20-year-old joined alongside Tyler Dibling and Harrison Armstrong in the set-up.
On 2 October, the under-21s took the stage for their third qualifier for the that age group's version of the European Championships.
Unfortunately for Armstrong he would not feature, but Dibling and George were handed a chance.
With the latter proving to be one of the best players on the pitch for the young Three Lions.
How Tyrique George played for England under-21s vs Slovakia
England were unable to break the deadlock at Stoke City's stadium against Slovakia.
The game ultimately ended in a 0-0 draw, but George certainly did his best to avoid that outcome.
As the official report from the England Football website shares, the Everton man "looked the most dangerous" for Carsley's side.
The forward was credited with almost notching a goal in the first-half, while he also attempted to complete a bicycle kick.
Details of the match also share that George was a creative outlet for the under-21s and that he was "constantly beating his man down the left."
Overall, a strong performance away from L3, which will only do him the world of good upon his return to Everton.
How the numbers truly show magnitude of George's performance
Stats can often show how well a player has performed, but they can also fail to tell the full story.
On this occassion, they are simply backing up the resounding praise that George has received.
Against Slovakia, as per Sofascore, George attempted 13 dribbles in just a 62 minute performance, in which he completed seven.
He was also heavily involved in duels, winning seven of 16 of his individual battles.
Creatively, he made one big chance for his teammates, with two key passes overall.
Teammate Dibling was given 29 minutes, with him also showing quality on the ball, completing 66 per cent of his dribbles and also providing one key pass.
A successful night, result aside, for the two Everton youngsters, with Armstrong now hoping to join them on the pitch when they face the Republic of Ireland on 6 October.
