How Storm Austen could affect Arsenal vs Everton as Met Office issue new London weather warning
David Moyes takes his Toffees side to the capital for a 3pm kick-off against the reigning Premier League champions.
It comes with the backdrop of Everton seeing their unbeaten start to the 2026-27 go at the hands of Chelsea last Saturday.
Arsenal, on the other hand, may be rather fatigued after their thrilling 2-2 draw with Bayern Munich in the Champions League on Wednesday night.
It's set to be a fantastic game at the Emirates, as two classic Premier League rivals meet once again.
However, the journey down to London for some Evertonians may not be the most pleasant of commutes.
What is the Met Office saying ahead of Everton's trip to Arsenal?
If you weren't aware that summer has well and truly gone, then the arrival of the UK's first named storm of the year will ensure you are now.
Storm Austen is set to cause widespread disruption across the country over the next couple of days.
Severe gales of wind, torrential rain and generally treacherous conditions are set to arrive in large areas of the nation.
Of course, with the weekend seeing many football fans travelling up and down the country to get to games, this has the potential for major disruption in that regard.
The Met Office website has now issued a yellow weather warning for wind that covers London on Friday, when many Evertonians will be arriving ahead of Saturday's game.
Under their 'what to expect' section, the Met Office write: "Probably some bus and train services affected, with some journeys taking longer."
So, is Saturday's game in any danger of being postponed?
When is Storm Austen expected to move away?
Storm Austen is set to hit southern England hard on Friday, and will put any matches taking place during that day under threat of postponement.
Ipswich play Nottingham Forest at Portman Road on Friday night, so keep an eye out for that one coming under threat.
However, the Met Office website shows that by Saturday, the yellow warning for London, and indeed large parts of England, is no longer in force.
Storm Austen is expected to move north as Friday goes on, with a yellow warning remaining in place for the entirety of Scotland throughout the weekend.
The same will apply for large areas of Northern England over the weekend too, but the south is only set for disruption on Friday.
As such, there should be no risk of postponement for Arsenal against Everton at all come Saturday afternoon.
