Jack Grealish may have to fight for his place in the Everton starting lineup this season.

The England international returned to the Toffees on loan from Manchester before the transfer deadline day.

Since then, David Moyes hasn't just thrown the 31-year-old straight into the team.

Grealish got his first Premier League start of the season against Ipswich Town at Hill Dickinson Stadium, lasting 79 minutes.

The English winger hasn't played the full 90 minutes so far, giving other players a chance to prove their credentials.

With Tyrique George and Tyler Dibling consistently making an impact in the 2026-27 campaign, doubts have emerged over Moyes' starting lineup.

Why Jack Grealish may not be undisputed starter at Everton

Grealish has shown glimpses of his qualities at Everton, making an impact whenever he's called upon.

However, the attacker faces competition from the likes of George, Dibling and even Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall.

With the two young English wingers showing signs of maturity in recent matches, maybe it's time for Moyes to build the club's future around them.

Grealish arguably can't provide the running power of the two youngsters out wide, and while he can play as a number 10, another key player already occupies that position.

Speaking on Toffees Unwrapped, BBC Radio Merseyside's Phil Munns said, "I think many people would assume that Grealish will be in the starting XI whenever he is fit and available - should he be, though?

"Based on the quality we've seen so far this season from the likes of George, I know he can play left or right. Dibling, we've only really seen on the right.

"Grealish, we only really see on the left, but people think he could have a role in the middle as a 10. There are a lot of moving parts that would have to happen; that's Dewsbury-Hall's position.

"I do wonder if Grealish will be an automatic starter for Everton this season."

Who Jack Grealish is actually competing with at Hill Dickinson Stadium

Moyes brought out the best in Grealish on the left-wing at Everton last season, which saw Iliman Ndiaye move to the right.

With the Senegal international's departure, Brennan Johnson and Dibling are vying for a starting spot.

On the left, George has had an encouraging start to the season and his pace has given the Blues a cutting edge at key moments.

The former Chelsea youngster has started where he left off in the previous campaign after joining on loan in January.

Grealish doesn't seem ready to play the full 90 minutes yet, and Moyes may want to bring him on for the final 30 minutes for now.

George gives the Merseyside outfit more energy up top, which they desperately need, as Thierno Barry needs someone to play to when he holds up play.
