Everton star Jordan Pickford took some flak despite England coming back to beat Norway in the World Cup quarter-finals.

The Three Lions felt the heat literally and figuratively in Miami during their 2-1 extra-time win over Stale Solbakken's men on Saturday.

Andreas Schjelderup's cross-shot caught Pickford off guard, and put Norway into the lead in the 36th minute.

Jude Bellingham restored parity on the stroke of half-time, with a fine effort after good work from Anthony Gordon.

And Real Madrid ace Bellingham was the hero in extra time, following in from Morgan Rogers' saved effort.

There was one action from Pickford that left Jamie O'Hara, Jason Cundy and Danny Mills stunned when watching the game live for talkSPORT.

Jamie O'Hara loses his mind at Jordan Pickford in England vs Norway

Pickford made some top-drawer saves when England conquered Mexico in the Azteca in the previous round.

But Everton's usually ultra-reliable number one has had a few nervy moments during England's World Cup campaign.

And he will certainly be left disappointed by Schjelderup's goal, which certainly rocked England.

Pickford, 32, inexplicably pulled his hand away from the cross, seemingly believing it to be going wide.

Watching live, an exasperated O'Hara commented: "What the...what on earth is going on? What's Pickford doing? What's happened?"

Cundy and Mills were equally in disbelief, with Mills suggesting VAR might save England, with Harry Kane calling for a foul earlier in the move.

But Cundy rejected that suggestion, saying: "Let me tell you now, forget VAR, we are in a mile of trouble here. A mile of trouble."

Jordan Pickford will have a point to prove

Okay, sure, it was not Pickford's best moment, and there were a couple of other nervy moments during the match.

But, Pickford is now England's record World Cup appearance holder for a reason.

And that reason is he has been superb for England, and he was crucial in the win over Mexico.

Some of the discourse around Pickford and England can often border on ridiculous, and Everton fans know just how good he is.

He will be desperate to make amends against Argentina, and Pickford could up being extremely crucial in such a high-pressure environment.
