David Unsworth is set to leave his role as the Academy Director and Under-23s at Everton to pursue a managerial career.

He joined the club in a coaching capacity in 2013 when he was appointed the Under-21 manager.

He has since progressed up the ranks at Goodison Park to become one of the most influential figures behind the scenes.

Via his personal Twitter account, Parry wrote, "We should all thank Dave for the enormous things he's done for our mighty club as a player and a coach over the years. True Evertonian."

True hero

Unsworth is surely going to go down as a Goodison Park legend.

He is a true hero and an inspiration to the fans, players and coaching staff.

We're sure that he will be an exceptional manager and who knows, one day, could be back at the helm to take Everton to the promised land.

Everton

He's had a penchant for working with young players and promoting them to the first team so that could be a characteristic of his managerial style.

First-team players Tom Davies, Anthony Gordon, Jonjoe Kenny, Mason Holgate and Dominic Calvert-Lewin all worked with him before moving up to the senior side.

He's also made 350 appearances for the club as a player and is undoubtedly a legend on the blue half of Merseyside.
