Pat Nevin could barely believe what he saw as Everton tried their best to throw away a point against Hull City.

Everton came away from Sunday's entertaining Premier League clash with a 2-2 draw at MKM Stadium.

Brennan Johnson's disallowed goal was the only real talking point from the first half on Humberside.

What followed was a rather crazy second half as Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall and Thierno Barry struck after Joe Gelhardt had opened the scoring.

Mohamed Belloumi struck to earn Hull a point, with David Moyes no doubt coming away from the game with mixed feelings.

Everton certainly had their chances, but in the end a point apiece was just about the right outcome.

Thierno Barry redeems himself

Barry was right in the thick of the action. The 10 aerial duels he won is a tally no player can better in the Premier League this campaign.

The former France Under-21s international took his chance brilliantly, but only after wasting some other openings.

That includes a chance that looked easier to miss when he somehow failed to convert a cross from a few yards out right in front of goal.

Nevin, covering the game for BBC Radio 5 Live, was left stunned.

"That's not one Thierno Barry will want to see again but he will. What a dreadful mess," he said.

"That's three golden chances Barry has had now. He just needs to put it in the back of the net.

"It's ones that are really easy. At minimum, he should have scored two."

Barry did go on to get his goal, which Nevin hailed as "brilliant" from the striker.

Everton player ratings vs Hull City: Maitland-Niles comically bad, 8/10 'shell-shocked' teammate steps up

Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall achieves a Premier League first vs Hull

Dewsbury-Hall scored one and assisted another for Everton in a superb individual showing.

There is no question that Ainsley-Maitland Niles was Everton's worst performer, while Barry and Dewsbury-Hall stepped up in attack.

Dewsbury-Hall now has 13 Premier League goals, though remarkably this was the first he has scored with his head.

Moyes will want more of that going forward, while also no doubt also wanting more from Barry as the striker looks to continue his momentum.
