Sean Dyche reveals Jordan Pickford expectations after what he's heard from Everton
Everton star Jordan Pickford has come under the microscope of Sean Dyche.
The 32-year-old is ready to pack his bags after being dumped out of the World Cup at the hands of Argentina.
Anthony Gordon may have bagged the opener, but Thomas Tuchel's decision making ultimately cost his side.
The shot-stopper went on to concede two late goals as Enzo Fernandez and Lautaro Martinez turned the semi-final around.
That result has sparked a massively negative reaction as Three Lions fans voice their frustration.
Pickford has copped some of that with Dyche certainly not helping despite his remaining links at Everton.
What did Sean Dyche hear about Jordan Pickford at Everton?
It was so nearly a day of glory for England when they took the lead la Albiceleste.
Unfortunately, it just wasn't to be as the defensive Three Lions threw away their lead.
Goodison News covered Pickford's performance and believe he was ultimately let down after several stunning saves.
He did his utmost to keep Argentina out, but has still come under fire from his former manager.
Dyche has spoken out via talkSPORT on Friday to suggest that he expected more from the 32-year-old after conversations with ex-Everton colleagues.
He said: "For the season he's had, I'm out of there now but people I still keep in touch with have said he's had a brilliant season, then you'd expect him to save that [Fernandez's goal], I think."
That certainly isn't an ideal comment to be hearing, especially with former England keeper Ben Foster also piling in.
Ben Foster blames uncontrollable Pickford attribute for England downfall
It's clear that Dyche blames the keeper for the part he played in England's defeat.
The goal in question was a thunderbolt from Fernandez that was always curling away from the Everton man.
He so nearly got a hand to it, but it was just out of reach.
That raised eyebrows and has sparked frustration, so Pickford needs all the backing he can get.
The shot-stopper didn't get it from Foster as the ex-goalkeeper added to Dyche's negativity to explain what went wrong.
He said: "The reason that the ball goes in the back of the net is because Jordan Pickford is six foot one. He's not a big, tall, imposing goalkeeper who can look over players.
"As soon as he takes that little look to his left, by the time the ball gets past John Stones, it's too late. He can't make the save."
That certainly played a role, but to essentially blame the Toffees star for not saving a star due to uncontrollable physical attributes seems extremely harsh.
Dyche thinks he should have done better, but based on Foster's comments, maybe that was never going to happen, so the negativity is essentially pointless.
