Simon Jordan tears 'useless' Michael Keane to shreds with Everton 'disaster' on the cards

Simon Jordan has slammed Michael Keane again and believes Everton getting relegated would be a "disaster".

The Toffees have started the season in poor circumstances, losing each of their four Premier League games and now crashing out of the EFL Cup third round to Southampton.

Sean Dyche's side threw away another 2-0 lead against Aston Villa in the league last weekend with Keane drawing criticism from the talkSPORT presenter.

Writing for the Daily Mail on 19 September, Jordan thinks that getting relegated would be hugely damaging especially ahead of the move to the stadium at Bramley-Moore Dock next season.

He said: "Relegation would be an absolute disaster. There is no comparison between their situation and Birmingham City, who are gaining momentum in League One after demotion.

"You drop out of this Premier League, you can’t muck about on the chance you may come back. Everton’s whole future and the reason for building this stadium was not to take one step back – it was to take two steps forward.

"My colleague Martin Keown was scratching his head about Everton’s defending at Villa last weekend. I’ll be less diplomatic, Michael Keane was absolutely useless. Allowing Ollie Watkins to win his header at the far post was due to desire, or lack of."

It has been a difficult start to the season for Dyche and his side as they have failed to win a single Premier League game in four attempts.

What is particularly galling is that threw away two-goal leads in back-to-back Premier League games against Bournemouth and Villa is not.

The backline has not been good enough and has been conceding goals for fun at times with even Jordan Pickford struggling for form.

This could be down in part to the absence of Jarrad Branthwaite, who has frustratingly missed the opening weeks of the season.

Keane has deputised in his place, playing ahead of the summer signing Jake O'Brien, and has come under fire even though it is hard to say he has been the biggest issue.

Indeed, despite losing against Southampton on penalties in the EFL Cup, the former England international grabbed an assist and was defensively sound overall

It is clear that the former ex-Burnley star isn't rated by Jordan but there are much worse problems at Goodison right now.
