The Everton transfer that impressed Troy Deeney as David Moyes singled out for praise

Troy Deeney singled out David Moyes for particular praise following Everton's battling 2-2 draw with Manchester United.

The Toffees twice came from behind to extend their unbeaten start to the Premier League season to three games.

Tyrique George struck after Bryan Mbuemo's opener, before Ainsley Maitland-Niles' stunning 96th-minute strike to cancel out Benjamin Sesko's goal.

It was a thrilling contest at Hill Dickinson Stadium, coming at the end of a difficult week for Everton given their transfer window failings.

Everton saw a late move for Folarin Balogun fall through after sanctioning exits for Iliman Ndiaye and Beto.

But the Toffees did recruit in a troublesome position, with Deeney impressed by that deal.

David Moyes named Manager of the Week

Moyes' future as Everton manager has been called into question over the past week.

The Scotsman has just 10 months to run on his contract at Hill Dickinson Stadium and there is little to suggest that will be renewed.

Moyes continues to show just how good a manager he is, though, with Everton good value for their battling point against Man United.

Deeney did not name any Everton players in his Team of the Week for BBC Sport, but he did select Moyes as his Manager of the Week.

Praising the 63-year-old, Deeney also talked up the signing of Maitland-Niles for a small fee.

"He lost all his attacking options but still gets the job done," Deeney said. "He brought in Maitland-Niles for £3m when nobody else wanted him."

It was actually around £4m Everton paid for Maitland-Niles, but the point still stands.

Many supporters questioned the signing of Maitland-Niles, believing there were far better options out there.

But the former Arsenal player showed after being brought off the bench just what he is capable of.

Maitland-Niles is in the side to provide an attacking option down the right, while also keeping out the opposition.

So to pop up with the strike we saw against United was a welcome bonus.

His long-ranger makes him the first player ever to score from outside the box on his Everton debut in the Premier League era.

A niche stat it may be, but one that ensures he is already loved by the fanbase.
