Thierno Barry issues 13-word pledge after Everton scenes vs Hull City
Thierno Barry has confessed he's "still learning" after Everton's 2-2 draw with Hull City.
David Moyes' side preserved their unbeaten start to 2026-27 at the MKM Stadium on Sunday.
The Toffees always knew that the Tigers would be tough to tame, with Sergej Jakirovic's newly-promoted outfit being a surprise package so far.
Joe Gelhardt gave Hull the lead on 48 minutes before Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall equalised 10 minutes into the second half.
Barry then put Everton in front on 68 minutes, only for Mohamed Belloumi to level things up on 74 minutes, ensuring the points were shared.
Not taking all three points home will be of great frustration to the Toffees, but Everton's number 11 took another positive step over the weekend.
What did Thierno Barry 'promise' after Hull City vs Everton?
After joining Everton in last year's summer window, Barry needed to take his debut 2025-26 campaign to warm up on Merseyside.
He netted eight times in 41 total appearances last season, and he's already on six goals in all competitions this year.
The 21-year-old's goal against Hull means it's now successive games in which he's found the net in the Premier League.
It also keeps him at the top of Everton's scoring chart, with his three league goals being closely followed by Dewsbury-Hall with two.
Barry took to his Instagram story after the game to make an exciting vow to Everton supporters.
"More to come I promise, I know I can have more," he wrote. "Still learning."
So, just how good were his underlying numbers against Hull on Sunday?
Where did Barry lead all players in Hull vs Everton?
Everton's trip to Hull saw Barry continue his record of starting every single Premier League game for the Toffees this season.
He played 86 minutes before being withdrawn for Charly Alcaraz, and he certainly left his impression on the game.
Aside from his goal, the Frenchman put in a performance that, if indeed there is more to come as he vows, will have Toffees fans ecstatic.
Per FotMob, no player on the pitch took more touches in the opposition box (six) or registered more shots on goal (five) than Barry.
Meanwhile, he also had the highest top speed of any player on Sunday, with the striker clocked in at 35.5 kilometres per hour (21.7 miles per hour).
Barry won two of his three ground duels and 10 of 14 aerial duels, but did miss four big chances which is perhaps were his Instagram message stems from.
As long as he keeps getting himself in those positions, he will score.
