Thierno Barry shares bet he's made with Tyrique George if he hits assists target

Thierno Barry has given Tyrique George extra motivation to enjoy a brilliant 2026-27 season with Everton.

After seeing his loan move from Chelsea turned permanent this summer, George is starting to flourish into the player Everton believe he can be.

The 20-year-old forward was unable to find a single goal contribution from any of his 11 appearances for the Toffees last season.

However, the England youth international finally opened his goalscoring account against Manchester United last Sunday.

George is now firmly establishing himself as a key starting player in David Moyes' side.

Barry is also doing the same, but he's called upon George to somewhat help him retain that role at Hill Dickinson Stadium.

Especially when you're a striker such as Barry, having those around you firing on all creative cylinders makes life so much easier.

Barry already has four goals from his opening four games in all competitions this season, and is looking Everton's number nine of the future.

Speaking in a joint interview with Sky Sports ahead of Saturday's game against Tottenham, Barry and George joked about their bromance that's forming on and off the pitch.

Barry then revealed that the two have agreed to a wager, that should George win, will see him rewarded rather handsomely.

"I do a bet with him (George), if he makes five assists for me I will pay for his holiday. Just five (assists)," Barry said.

"He has to score them as well though," George interjected. "He never gives me the ball so how?" Barry responded wittingly.

George was then asked where he would go on holiday, to which Barry said: "Don't say Mykonos please."

"Maybe Miami," George revealed, which it's fair to say wouldn't be a cheap holiday to send him on for Barry.

But do George's underlying numbers so far this season suggest he will find five assists?

Through his opening three Premier League games of the season so far, George is yet to register an assist for any of his Everton teammates.

However, his underlying numbers suggest that it's only a matter of time before that changes.

As per FotMob, he's well above average amongst his Premier League positional rivals for his 2.29 chances created and 7.63 line-breaking passes per 90 this term.

This is also the case for his 6.10 touches in the opposition box per game and his 88.5 per cent pass success rate.

George should get his next chance to make some progress on this bet when Everton travel to Tottenham on Saturday evening.
