Everton beat Dundee 4-0 in their pre-season friendly on Saturday.

The Blues came out on top through goals from Beto, Thierno Barry, Harvey Foster and Dwight McNeil on 18 July.

It was a great start to David Moyes' side's preparations for the new campaign.

However, there are a few more positive points that have emerged after the Blues brushed the Scottish outfit aside.

Here, we look at three things that supporters may have learned from the Dens Park clash.

Thierno Barry helps his case as Everton defeat Dundee

Barry struggled to convince the doubters in his first season on Merseyside.

The Frenchman notched eight goals in 36 Premier League matches last time out.

However, he constantly missed chances and left fans frustrated with his antics off the pitch.

He impressed against the Scottish Premiership side, charging down the goalkeeper to notch a goal, and double the Blues' lead.

It was the type of persistence and determination that will help endear him to Toffees everywhere if he can keep it up.

Tyler Dibling grows in confidence in Everton win

Tyler Dibling was an outcast under Moyes last season, making just 14 appearances in the league.

The 20-year-old started the contest rather cautiously but grew into it as it went on.

He showed a willingness to take on defenders and looked dangerous and found Beto will a brilliant pass towards the end of the first 45 minutes.

Liverpool Echo reporter Joe Thomas summed it up best, as he said: “It does look like he is growing in confidence after that first half through-ball to Beto.”

Harvey Foster puts his name in Everton fans' minds

Foster could become the Blues' latest youth star after his goal against the Dark Blues.

The 19-year-old midfielder made his Premier League 2 breakthrough towards the end of last season.

He made his debut in that competition against Ipswich Town's Under-21s in an 8-4 victory, with two assists.

He will have put his name on supporters' lips with his finish from 25 yards that caught out Harrison Sharp.
