The Toffees boss did play a strong side in the second round win over Preston, but that was only the second competitive game of the season.
His side have racked up three more Premier League games since then, and so rotation may be the order of the day against the Championship outfit.

Braiden Graham is already knocking on Everton first-team door
Signed from Linfield in the summer of 2024, Braiden Graham turned professional with Everton in November of that same year.
A versatile forward capable of playing anywhere across the attack, the 18-year-old is clearly a talent Moyes is sweet on.
He featured numerous times in pre-season this summer, and has been named on the bench against Man United and Tottenham in the Premier League.
Graham netted 21 times in 30 games for the Under-21s last season, and already has three goals and an assist from four games this term.
So, he will surely be confident of making his competitive Everton debut on Wednesday.
Now let's take a look at a player at the opposite end of the pitch who should also be sniffing a debut chance against Wolves.
Moyes could turn to teenage right-back vs Wolves
With Ainsley Maitland-Niles Everton's only true natural right-back, Moyes may look to hand someone else a chance here against Wolves.
Merlin Rohl has filled in well, but the German is a midfielder by trade and Moyes may indeed wish to hand him more chances further up the pitch.
Step forward George Finney. The 19-year-old has been turning out for Everton's Under-21s over the last couple of seasons.
He spent the second half of last season on loan at Scottish Championship side Ayr United, and became an important starting player there.
The Englishman has already made six appearances for the Under-21s this season, and is an attacking-minded right-back who can play anywhere down the flank.
At the very least, he should be in the matchday squad for the visit of Wolves.

Jack Patterson arguably Everton U-21's best in 2026-27 so far
As per FotMob, there's no player in Everton's Under-21s this season averaging a higher match rating (7.48) than Jack Patterson.
The 20-year-old central midfielder joined the Toffees in the summer of 2022 from Northern Irish side Crusaders.
A Northern Ireland youth international, he's since gone on to make 36 appearances for Everton's Under-18s and 51 for the Under-21s.
Having now proven himself to be a quality player at Premier League 2 level, Patterson is already getting towards the age where his senior career needs to kickstart.
So, in an Everton midfield engine room that some could possibly do with a rest in, Patterson could be a shrewd player for Moyes to turn to on Wednesday.
