Tyler Dibling assessed as Everton fringe player named to start vs Preston in three changes

David Moyes has named Tyler Dibling the Everton line-up to face Preston in the Carabao Cup.

The Blues are looking to progress in the first domestic cup competition after their opening day win over Crystal Palace.

Moyes has made three changes to the side that beat the Eagles 2-0 at the Hill Dickinson Stadium.

The Toffees face Championship opposition at Deepdale, but they are clearly taking the contest very seriously.

The Merseysiders will be looking to go on a cup run and give supporters something to get excited by.

They will hope that they can finally end a trophy drought that goes all the way back to 1995.

He only featured for a total of 513 minutes last season, after his big money move to the Hill Dickinson Stadium, with Moyes not trusting him to be a starter from the jump.

Dibling did not manage a goal or assist last season, but the underlying metrics provide hope that he can come up trumps.

He managed 1.34 shots and created 0.96 chances per 90 minutes, according to data from Fotmob, which would likely increase with more minutes.

The former Southampton man completed 84.3 per cent of his passes, averaged 2.40 touches in the opposition box, and completed 51.1 per cent of his dribbles.

The 20-year-old needs to be handed chances in the cup matches, so that he can get into a rhythm and maybe knock on the door for a league berth.

If Dibling makes an impact against the Lilywhites, then he may put himself in contention for the clash with Bournemouth on Saturday.
