Everton's Merlin Rohl will be hoping to see his name in Germany's upcoming international squad.

The 24-year-old was unable to push his way into Julian Nagelsmann's plans ahead of the World Cup due to a lack of playing time at Everton.

Nagelsmann was ultimately sacked following Germany's surprise exit to Paraguay in the 2026 World Cup, with Jurgen Klopp taking over.

The arrival of Klopp has increased the chances for those on the periphery of the squad to feature for their nation.

And following his early-season impact for Everton, Rohl may have quiet confidence that he can earn that selection.

With the German national media now chiming in on those chances.

Why Merlin Rohl may be set for Germany debut

Reports emerging out of Germany have suggested that Klopp is set to announce an extensive and larger squad than the typical 23-man roster.

The former Liverpool manager had also previously stated that he would not be shy to hand opportunities even to those "who aren't expecting it at all."

And that could include Everton's Rohl.

Now, ahead of the Germany international squad announcement, set to take place on Thursday, 17 September, German outlet BILD, in their print edition, have delivered their verdict on Rohl's prospects.

As they list all the possible selections, the Everton man has been listed to have a "good chance" of a Germany call-up.

Rohl has featured extensively for the German youth teams in the past, from under-18s all the way to under-21s.

However, he has yet to make his senior international debut, with his prospects now looking positive in the German media.

Why Rohl deserves Germany selection after Everton U-turn

Last season Rohl struggled to break his way into the Everton team but this campaign, he has proven to be a key man for David Moyes.

The German has shown versatility for the Scotsman, putting in strong performances at right-back, helping to ease the issues the Toffees have had there.

And that ability to fill in wherever is needed can be an invaluable asset on the international stage.

Klopp's Germany do have some tough fixtures coming up in the UEFA Nation's League, with a tie against the Netherlands looming first.

If selected, it could be a significant opportunity for Rohl to stake his claim in this new era of the German national team.

And that will only improve him as a player at both Everton and on the international stage.
