What Tim Cahill has told Everton's Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall as private chat revealed
Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall has been told by Everton legend Tim Cahill how he can influence games more with goals.
The Englishman has been a top signing for the Toffees since moving from Chelsea in the summer of 2025.
In his opening campaign, the midfielder netted eight Premier League goals, coming just one behind last season's top scorer, Beto.
The 28-year-old is now hoping to go to the next level under David Moyes, and become an even more influential player.
One of those is to improve on his output in the final third for the Merseyside outfit.
And the Everton man is looking in the right direction, with Cahill revealing details of discussions with Dewsbury-Hall.
What advice has Tim Cahill given to Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall?
Everton will be hoping to rely on Dewsbury-Hall's brilliance this season once again.
The Englishman has become a key man for Moyes, and the midfielder is still looking to take his game to the next level.
As BBC Sport have reported, Cahill revealed he spoke privately with Dewsbury-Hall, who sought his advice on how to score more goals.
The Australian stated: "We had a chat about adding more goals to his game.
"He asked me a few questions and one of the things I said was that the only way you score goals is by getting into the box. We spoke about my relationship with Bainesy [Leighton Baines], Tony Hibbert, Mikel Arteta and Steven Pienaar.
"Those players knew where I would be and understood my movements. They knew I would be in the box."
Dewsbury-Hall is in his second season at Everton and those relationships will continue to build as the weeks and months go by.
Everton's squad has not changed too much from last campaign, with Moyes' starting line-up against Ipswich Town featuring just one midfielder who was not at Hill Dickinson last season.
That was Brennan Johnson.
That continuity will foster an environment for his teammates to become more accustomed to his movements as Cahill suggests.
Is Dewsbury-Hall getting into the right areas for goals?
This campaign, Dewsbury-Hall has already added one goal to his Premier League catalogue.
And he may feel unlucky to not have more.
As per the Premier League, among all midfielders this season, the Englishman is tenth for touches in the opposition box.
Additionally, Dewsbury-Hall is third among attacking midfielders for shots per 90 at 3.6 according to FotMob.
So, the Everton man is certainly getting into areas to have a chance at goal, and after his talks with a bona fide scorer such as Cahill, he may return from the international break with added confidence to contribute more.
