Chris Sutton feels for David Moyes despite Everton sealing victory against Ipswich Town on Saturday.

An unbeaten start to the season continued for the Toffees with a 1-0 triumph.

The midweek win in the Carabao Cup against Wolves was a first win in three and it is now two on the bounce.

Gary O'Neil's side travelled to Hill Dickinson Stadium and certainly had their moments.

It didn't prove to be enough as the Blues secured three points thanks to Thierno Barry's improvised first-half effort.

It is the Frenchman that went on to be central to the controversy that will have massively annoyed Moyes.

What has Chris Sutton said about David Moyes?

The second half started in a similar fashion to the first in L3.

The hosts had plenty of chances without scoring, leaving the door open ajar for the newly promoted side to make things happen.

The second goal felt as if it was going to be massively important and Everton looked to have got it.

Barry rose the highest from a Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall corner and his header flew into the far corner, out of reach of Christian Walton.

It went on to be ruled out for offside against Brennan Johnson, who was deemed to be interfering with play.

The call certainly hasn't gone down well and that has been echoed by Sutton via Final Score on Saturday.

He said: "I don't think he's saving that. David Moyes is going to go nuts after the game about that. That just doesn't seem right."

It's fair to say that Hill Dickinson Stadium agrees with the former striker after a chorus of boos engulfed Bramley-Moore Dock.

The true question is, what did Moyes actually think?

The home fans were going "nuts", there's no doubt about that.

There was certainly a cooler side from the Toffees boss as he spoke out after the result.

That will have been much easier after taking three points as Moyes remained very level-headed.

Speaking via BBC Radio Merseyside, the Scot said: "It's difficult for the referees to always get things right, but I think 'consistency' is the word we always use and we all understand.

"What I've heard is that they've said there was interference from Brennan. I don't think there was any interference. I think he was offside - we have to say that. But maybe last year, goals like that would have been allowed.

"The goalkeeper wouldn't have saved the header. I think we should all be watching to see what the referees come out and say about it. It didn't impact us today, but we had a bundle last year where it impacted us greatly."

It is clear that the decision didn't go down well inside the dressing room, but with a win under your belt, it's hard to be too angry.

Should it have happened in a draw or defeat, maybe Sutton's guess of Moyes going "nuts" would have come true.
