Thomas Tuchel seems to have doubts about Everton goalkeeper Jordan Pickford's England status.

The German boss has started with Leeds United shot-stopper James Trafford in between the sticks in the Three Lions' first two Nations League games.

Against Spain and Czechia, the former Manchester City ace was given a chance to prove his credentials with the national team.

Pickford is expected to start the next two England games after continuing his fine form at Hill Dickinson Stadium.

England will face Croatia next and the Czech Republic for the second time in the final game of the international break.

David Moyes' number one may be looking over his shoulder in the Three Lions' setup as Tuchel decides on his first-choice goalkeeper.

David Seaman was "shocked" to see Trafford start against Spain, but feels Pickford needs competition in the squad.

The England legend believes the two goalkeepers have completely different demeanours, with the 32-year-old being energetic and his younger counterpart calmer.

At Arsenal, Arteta had to choose between Aaron Ramsdale and David Raya and stuck with the Spain international, the more mellow option.

It's now up to the German boss to decide which shot-stopper can lead the Three Lions to their first major title in the coming years.

Speaking on talkSPORT on 29 September, Seaman said, "Jordan's style is quite hectic, he's very lively even when he doesn't have the ball.

"With Trafford, you have someone who's very calm; he's a bit like myself. There was Peter Schmeichel and me.

"There are two completely different ways of being a keeper. It's whatever gets the best out of you. Even at Arsenal, Arteta put David Raya in because he was a lot calmer than Aaron Ramsdale.

"It's down to whether Tuchel wants that calmness in goal, but it's two games each and hopefully Trafford can keep a clean sheet."

The England international has arguably been one of Everton's best players over the last few years and has rightly secured his place as the number one for club and country.

Pickford is close to reaching 100 caps for the Three Lions and can certainly stay at the top of his game for a few years to come.

England's next opportunity to lift a major trophy will be Euro 2028, co-hosted by the UK and the Republic of Ireland.

There's no substitute for experience and Trafford still has a long way to go before establishing his name with the Three Lions.
