Yannick Bolasie hasn't forgotten about his time at Everton.

The 37-year-old now finds himself in Brazil with Chapecoense after completing a January move from Cruzeiro.

He has featured in Brazil's Serie A since 2024 after various stints in the Championship and then in Turkyie.

His career took a downward turn after his move to Goodison Park as things just didn't work out.

After being so electric at Crystal Palace, he was unable to replicate that form with the Toffees.

That hasn't seen Bolasie turn his back on Everton as he continues to stick up for a former colleague.

Yannick Bolasie stands up for Jordan Pickford

The ex-DR Congo international joined the Blues 10 years ago and went on to make just 32 appearances before leaving permanently in 2021.

He was just one signing in a hugely busy transfer window in L4 where Richarlison, Yerry Mina, Lucas Digne and Bernard came in.

It's fair to say that things didn't work out for Bolasie, but he seemingly has fond memories of his time at Finch Farm.

That has seen him discuss former teammate Jordan Pickford live on talkSPORT ahead of England's meeting with DR Congo on Wednesday.

He was asked about Troy Deeney after the former striker said that the Three Lions number one, "Scares the life out of me."

The ex-Watford man also said: "I can’t see us winning the World Cup with Jordan Pickford in goal. I just can’t.

"He doesn’t make me feel calm like Alisson does for Brazil, for example. Unfortunately, when you look around, Pickford is the best we’ve got"

Bolasie was quick to defend the Everton star, saying: "He's a great goalkeeper to be fair. The way I seen him develop, he's only gotten better and better for me. The arrogance that people might see from the outside, that's just him.

"He's been like that from the day he joined Everton. That was just him. I like that. You have to have that as a player, you have to have that as a goalkeeper as well. A lot of goalkeepers are crazy anyway, but you have to have that."

It's great to see the winger sticking up for the shot-stopper, especially after Deeney was also called out previously.

Jordan Pickford criticism is deserved as Everton form doesn't bode well with England responsibility

Gabby Agbonlahor slams Troy Deeney for Pickford comments

It's safe to say that the forward has ruffled some feathers with his comments about the Everton star.

Considering just how good he has been for the Toffees and for his country over the years, they certainly feel unfair.

The keeper has been one of the most consistent players for the Three Lions since 2018, yet gets no respect from Deeney.

That didn't go down well with Agbonlahor who slammed the comments as "nonsense" live on talkSPORT.

He said: "I love Troy, but he does come out with some nonsense, doesn’t he? For me, it’s nonsense.

"You look at what Jordan’s done in an England shirt… I hope we go all the way – I hope we do it – and if we do, Jordan’s going to be a massive part of it."

Everton fans will love what the ex-Aston Villa star has said, especially after Bolasie backed him up later on the same morning show.
